I am proud to serve as the 62nd president of the Queens Pediatric Society. I hope to continue improving our society, as have all the past presidents. With the help of all our executive committee I should be able to achieve this goal.
The QPS was established in 1947. It is the first level of connection to the American Academy of Pediatrics as members of our local Chapter 2 of the N.Y. District 2. We have quarterly educational programs on the second Tuesday of every October, December, February, and April. Residents Research Night, held in April gives Residents from 4 Queens Hospitals the opportunity to present their research. Our year culminates with a gala party to celebrate all progress.
As a second generation pediatrician, I know of the importance of reducing toxic stress in children and giving them the opportunity to reach their full potential. This can, to a great extent, be accomplished by education.
This year’s agenda will include programs on short stature/growth, a mini STI symposium, avoiding litigation, reducing taxes, and increasing assets (spouses are invited), bonus mini fellowship in child and adolescent mental health, a pediatric essay contest, Residents Research Night, and a “surprise” end of the year party.
Please join us at all these events (full membership) or at some of these (very small donation).
I remain respectfully yours,
Dr. Laura Garabedian
